FIeld Notes

Sadly no news on the writing front but nothing new there right, its still in the preparation stage and I’m still working on fleshing out the script.

This blog entry is to inform you about the stationary gem called Field Notes; if your like me you got ideas flying through the sort pinky mass of your brain every twenty seconds then you’re in luck.
I need to take notes but hate having some bulky note pad sticking in my hip and lets face it the classic ringbound notebook isn’t going to do much in the way of social credibility.

Don’t get me wrong this isn’t going to make you look any cooler or attract any women but it is easier to carry about then most notebooks I know about.

The same size and thickness of a passport and with a retro tough covering the Field Note book is perfect for note taking on the go, it comes in a variety of colors and three formats, lined, blank and graphic paper.

Sales pitch done, there made in the USA but got to Paperie for all you over here in Royal Britannia.

That’s it try them or don’t I’m just spreading the love, might do more stuff like this we will see.

Keep it to you're self

I struggle keeping any of the ever increasing number of ideas bobbing around my skull to myself, I often finding myself venting to some poor family member in great detail whole story ideas and number of irrelevant and confusing facts and motives to do with said stories, its probably the reason my day never answers the phone to me any more? I would love to post them all on here but can’t do that either, no one wants to read a book or see a film when you’ve been told the ending right.

What you getting at Welland I hear you mumble, well early this morning I received some sketches from Aaron concerning are Reaper Heights pitch, they look great, things are shaping up nicely and hopefully we will have a pitch done and dusted for end of this year, of course I want to show everyone but alas I can’t not,

however

I do keep promising to post stuff for you to see and today I deliver on my promises, here is a photo of one of the panels its all I can post I swear; don’t ask me what’s going on because I can’t tell you just enjoy.

Cheers

AAT and Pitchs

Fact is I’m a busy man, raising two children, training to be an accountant and getting a pitch ready for publishers is demanding on the free time.

I have finally found a few minutes to actually tell you all what’s going on, and there is a lot! First of started my AAT training, okay it’s foundation and yeah it isn’t what I plan to do all my life but I have to be realistic right, I don’t know how the writing thing will pan out so got to cover all my bases, the course has been enlightening and has highlighted my own lack of organization and concentration abilities not to even mention my basic knowledge and grasp of accounts jargon and workings, however I feel I am getting the grasp of it so fingers crossed I should be fine.

Writing, well the fact I have taken on such an important venture as improving myself academically its forced me to scrap my old writing routine and create a new one, if I’m honest this was a long time coming, the old routine was doing it if and when I had the chance which is not the way to go about it at all.
Fact is if you want to be a writer you have to work at it and it is hard work but if you enjoy it and like the finished product then it is more then worth it; currently Reaper Heights is in its final stages in terms of the pitch which doesn’t mean it’s almost done not by a long shot, however I am exited as two separate publishers have show interest in the idea and have requested pitch’s; Lucky for me most writers in the industry are very approachable and have given me some great advice like:

Picking the right publisher is very important, you have to check there back catalogue see if your book is going to be the sort of thing they will be interested in because if it isn’t you are wasting your time approaching them.

If you are not happy with the pitch don’t send it till you are! Last thing you want is getting a reply from a publisher saying no thanks when you didn’t give it you’re all.

Make sure you read the publishers submission requests some are different from others and the information here is very important, if there isn’t one ask them what they would like.

That’s just a few, hopefully fingers crossed the pitch will be ready for later this year start of next, I will keep you posted when I get a chance.

Projects

Got back from Jersey a few days ago and thought I would say congratulations to Matt and Andrea it was a great day and I wish you all the best for the future.

Now on to a bit of writing news, been working on three projects at them moment Icarus which I showed you some art work a while back, sadly this project is on the back burn right now but hopefully will see the light of day in the future.

Onari is another project I am working on, it is a slight step away from my normal style and is more children orientated or more young adult anyway, Onari is the story of a troubled teen named Eve who befriends a guardian of the forest named Onari who just so happens to be a giant wolf, I can’t give away to much of the story just yet but it should tug at the child hood memories we have of films like never-ending story and alike.

Lastly Reaper Heights is back, yes anyone who remembers this one should be pleased Jon and Sam are back doing there thing and hopefully I will have some preview artwork for you very soon.

But for now you can see some concept artwork for Onari which is provided by the talented Leticia Navarro Navrro

Enjoy

No news is......well no news?

It’s been a busy few weeks thus the reason for lack of blogging also I had no real updates to interest you, still don’t really this is just to let you know I’m alive.

First of got Tonsillitis which wasn’t overly pleasant, of course I was off work so when I got back it was series catch up and I’m still trying to get the bedroom finished at home, one of the kids spilt something on the laptop and now the keyboard is shot, so it makes writing a slow process at the moment, lucky for me I managed to borrow a USB keyboard so finally getting back on track.

In my last post I mentioned some stuff I was keeping under wraps hay guess what I’m still keeping it under wraps (sorry about that), I can assure you I am still writing and am currently working on two projects with artist involved, concept work looks good for both projects and story building is moving along nicely.

I know I know when are you going to get to see any of these “projects” well soon………..ish……………maybe? hopefully one at the beginning of next month if all goes to planned.

Oh and lastly I’m sure all of you heard about Michael Jackson passing away, everyone has there own opinions on this some, feel a great loss, over’s don’t see what the big deal is, personally I was a fan so bit gutted but it has been nice seeing and hearing all the old stuff that made him a great entertainer; in terms of tributes this I think is the best I have seen so far.

Welland

Basic Update

I’m back, okay so this is really uneventful updates just to let anyone who might care know what is going on in my world.

Over the last few months done a bit of British traveling, went to Birmingham and Manchester both for the first time and I hope not the last, both great cities and a good time was had in both cases mostly down to the company so you know who you are thanks for a great time, Oh yeah John and Paul sorry I didn’t say bye in Birmingham after getting in at 5:30am then up at 7am you can imagine I was kind of running on auto pilot I don’t really recall the trip home?

On the writing front, two bits of interesting news which for now I will keep under my hat, basically because I don’t want to reveal anything until I’m sure everything is in place but soon as I am clear what is happening I will post it here first.

That’s all for now folks.

Drawing/MGS and Bleedingcool!

I’m not very good at this whole blogging thing am I sorry about that; it has been once again a crazy week what with Birmingham last weekend and Manchester this weekend and end of month accountancy to complete at work my mind has been to occupied to write or anything else.

Anyway first of the small stuff, in my last blog I gave my prediction for Hideo Kojima’s next project and sadly I was wrong no snatcher yet anyway, instead looks like a new MGS game but with Raiden as the central character and possible on the 360, either way you know this will turn out well. Plus another MGS game called Metal Gear Peace Walker looks like Big Boss is getting a secound outing aswell check it all out here

Big news-ish I am taking up drawing………….yeah I know this is for personal reasons and also I would like to be able to control the whole scope on a few projects in the future, this doesn’t mean any of the artist I am working with at the moment are out of the picture just something I wish to try for myself, I will post my attempts for you all to enjoy and mock in the near future.

That’s it for now oh but check out Bleedingcool for all you comic info needs just started up so get in now on the ground floor.
